Join us in the beautiful and atmospheric surroundings of Douai Abbey for our performance of this 21st-century classic. Commissioned by Tenebrae in 2005, Path of Miracles takes its inspiration from the Camino de Santiago, the great pilgrimage route to Santiago de Compostela. The four movements reflect the journey from the abbey of Roncesvalles, through the great cathedrals of Leon and Burgos, finally arriving in Santiago itself. Joby Talbot's choral depiction of this is no ordinary piece; richly scored in 17 parts, the music encompasses everything from plainsong to minimalism, woven through with musical mysticism and drama. This will be an all-encompassing performance, as the music shifts and turns, surrounding the audience from all sides.
